Is being unselfish and self promotion contradictory?
Can you do both?
Do you think self promotion and self marketing is selfish?
Let’s get to the bottom of this “Unselfish Self Promotion”
Unselfish Self Promotion means you promote yourself by helping others first. You create value in you actions and that value creates a buzz, a buzz around you auctions, and they about you.
This value can be in business, in the job place, with family, friends, social clubs, on internet forums, or anywhere where people interact.
Our values and even our instinct tell us to promote ourselves, to survive, to protect. We go around life without noticing that there is a invisible force, like a gravitational pull, that forces us to act, speak, and live with one thing in mind, YOU. Most activities, thoughts, ideas are about YOU, how can YOU stay alive, how can YOU prosper, or get a raise, or have more fun.
Even when we try to be unselfish some people don’t comprehend why you do it. For example, I have told 4 people about a new idea for a charitable organization. It requires a lot of work, software, and marketing to make it work. It is a huge undertaking and one I’m passionate about. When I told all 4 people about this project they all asked me the same thing: “What’s in it for you”.
I answered: “Nothing, this is a non-profit charitable organization”. They asked again to clarify the situation “Yes, but what’s in it for you?” I repeated myself and explained that I wanted to be a missionary when I was younger and now I want to retake the same spirit. Yes, I will feel better about myself by helping others, yes, there is a lot of satisfaction, but they were looking for a monetary motivation. Not only that, they proceeded pointing out different revenue models for my technology based charitable idea. “You’re missing the point” I told them. “The idea is to have a non-for-profit organization as an example of social entrepreneurship”.

Yes, you can be unselfish and practice self promotion at the same time. I is the principle of Unselfish Self Promotion and the code to breaking the Ego-Survival predicament.
100 percent agree AND it is sad that people think we have to have a motive for doing something good. It is interesting to watch on social media how many people actually give away free good info in their posts/tweets —- those are the people that I tend to follow. Social media is a tremendous place to learn…..too bad some people have only chosen to sell using this media.
